Drivenness is the very statement that comes to mind when I encountered Hanna Therese Jimeno — a prominent news anchor and entrepreneur who resides in Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur — as she dared to speak about her life way back in college and the present. For a communication arts student, meeting Hanna felt like a ray of sunshine amidst the pandemic as it was truly a rare and great chance to meet someone who holds a grasp both on journalistic and entrepreneurial ventures. So far, she is known as a News Anchor at DZTP/Tirad Pass Network based at Barangay San Nicolas, Candon City, Ilocos Sur and also the business owner of Whiskeey’s Diner, a well-liked snack house that has paved the way for food trends in the city. In addition to that, Ms. Jimeno was also a former Radio Disk Jockey at Love Radio and had also thrived in the City of Dreams Manila as a Casino Dealer.

As Hanna graduated with the degree in Bachelor of Arts in Communication at Saint Louis University in 2016, positivity has always been glossed in her life while she was still thriving as a student back then. Her fun and worthwhile experiences are stemmed from her light characteristic that made her connected with the positive and competitive people in the academe — which is what she has also advised us as we grow and develop as communication arts students thriving towards success and competency.

Despite how light her experiences were, it was not always easy for Hanna back then. However, she gave an emphasis to do the things that scare you if there are times when you stumble upon new ventures that can be challenging. It is in that way wherein you are able to conquer your fears and see the silver linings around a dark cloud. Even while being able to achieve your desires, Hanna pointed out that it is essential to remember why you started. In addition, it does not stop there since you should remember that you must set your standards high and always do better. “Never quit,” she expressed as bewilderment was evident on my face.

When it comes to the advice that she could give to future media and communication practitioners, Hanna brought hope and positivity to the atmosphere by ensuring us that confidence is the key. She also added that we must believe that we can because if we do not believe in ourselves, who would believe us?

For thriving communication arts students, encountering Hanna has been a worthwhile experience as she brought a positive light on so many things that we continue to get through as we achieve tranquility and contentment in our career paths. She is the epitome of a dreamer and achiever who dared to stand for what her heart and mind desire against the people who look down on others. It will always be an honor to hear words from Hanna through her unparalleled personal takes and experiences that are full of life lessons.
